The Firearm Training Manual will assist you in your preparation for the written test as part of your application or re-certification of your Firearm Licence. Specifically, it only provides information about legal firearm ownership and use in Jamaica, general technical aspects of firearms, firearm safety and personal welfare.
The information contained here represents the minimum knowledge requirements that prospective and current firearm holders in Jamaica are expected to have if they are to own and safely use their firearm. (Of course, you are also encouraged to seek out and get as much supplemental training as possible from qualified sources.)
We hope you will use it as a general reference guide for as long as you own your firearm.
Treat every firearm as being loaded
Treat every firearm as being loaded. If it has not been continually in your possession, there is a chance that it may be loaded. If you have not personally checked it, assume that it is loaded.
