Application Instructions

The Firearm User’s Permit and Firearm User’s Secondary Certificate Application form may be downloaded from the link below or collected at any of our offices across the island.

A single application form should be completed in the applicant’s own handwriting and delivered to any FLA office with the following instructions below.

REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW APPLICATION FIREARM USER'S PERMIT:

  1. Applicant must be between the ages of 12-20 years old to apply.
  2. Completed Firearm User's Permit Application form – FLA 216 (signed by applicant and primary holder).

      The following supporting documents are required:

  • Birth Certificate (original and photocopy);
  • Proof of name change, if name has been changed: Marriage Certificate, Deep Poll or Divorce Decree;
  • Valid Government issued ID (Passport, Driver’s Licence, Voter’s ID);
  • One (1) passport size photograph.
  • Copy of applicant’s Tax Registration Number (TRN) (TRN card or Driver’s Licence);
  • Copy of Firearm User's Licence and current certificate of registration belonging to the primary holder; and
  • Licence Fee Receipt (purchased at any FLA office upon submission of completed documents).

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW APPLICATION FIREARM USER'S SECONDARY CERTIFICATE:

  1. Applicant must be 21 years old and over to apply.

Completed Firearm User's Secondary Certificate Application form – FLA 214 (signed by applicant and primary holder).

      The following supporting documents are required:

  • Birth Certificate (original and photocopy);
  • Proof of name change, if name has been changed: Marriage Certificate, Deep Poll or Divorce Decree;
  • Valid Government issued ID (Passport, Driver’s Licence, Voter’s ID);
  • Copy of applicant’s Tax Registration Number (TRN) (TRN card or Driver's Licence);
  • Copy of Firearm User's Licence and current Certificate of Registration belonging to the primary holder;
  • Licence Fee Receipt (purchased at any FLA office upon submission of completed documents); and
  • Permit previously issued (if cannot be located, a letter stating same is required).

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR RENEWAL OF FIREARM USER’S PERMIT AND FIREARM USER’S SECONDARY CERTIFICATE:

  1. One (1) completed Renewal Form (FLA014);
  2. Licence fee (paid at the FLA offices upon submission of completed documents);
  3. Copy of current licence card and licence fee certificate (for firearms listed on application form) belonging to primary holder; and
  4.  Permit previously issued (if cannot be located, a letter stating same is required).

An applicant who wishes to use a different firearm from the one previously approved, is required to submit all the documents needed for a New Firearm User’s Permit and Firearm User’s Secondary Certificate.

Applicants who are 18 years and over will be electronically fingerprinted.

Application form(s) and supporting documents are to be submitted directly to the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA), or any of the FLA offices. ONLY COMPLETED APPLICATION PACKAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

An application fee payable at any of the FLA offices is required upon submission of application. Debit card, credit card and cash transactions are accepted.
